Is among Earth's most active Volcanoes, having erupted 33 times since its first eruption in 1843.

The Hawaiian name " Kilauea" means " spewing" or " much spreading," in refrence to the lava flows
that it erupts.

The Hawaiian islands are actually the peaks of volcanoes formed over the past 6 million years or
so and are relatively young in geological time

of the volcanic islands could not sustain human life, they stocked their canoes with all that would be needed to start
life in Hawaii, these began with coocnuts, sugar canes and taro.
